RAIN SADKANE
Rain Sadkane is a nidan (2nd degree black belt) in the Aikikai style of Aikido, granted by the United States Aikido Federation and Aikido World Headquarters Hombu Dojo. She also holds the United States Aikido Federation title of Fukushidoin (certified instructor), recognized by Hombu Dojo in Japan.
She also holds a black belt in the Korean combined martial arts style Oom Yung Doe.
Originally from New York, Rain has a Master of Fine Arts degree in dance from the State University of New York College at Brockport. She has been a teacher in New York universities and Florida public middle and high schools over the past 12 years. Rain and her husband and Aikido sensei, Youssef Sadkane, introduced Aikido classes to the University of Rochester's program in movement and dance, where they co-taught Aikido. The University of Rochester now has ongoing Aikido classes.
Rain developed the dance program and is currently teaching at Lake Howell High School in Winter Park, FL. She holds professional teaching certifications in k-12 dance and physical education. Rain and Youssef began an Aikido club at Lake Howell High School. This year, Rain will be teaching Self-Defense as a physical education course offered for credit at the high school.
